Baljeet Kaur
Co-President

Here’s to a new year of learning more about Sikhism, meeting new people, and having lots of fun!
Kiranpreet Kaur
Co-President
3rd year, Commerce and Political Science
The SSA has been a part of my UBC experience from day one. From the beautiful mornings on the beach doing Simran, to the late night meetings with pizza, I loved it all! So, in my third year now, I am honoured to be able to play this role in an organization that I am so passionate about. People who know me can attest to my loud enthusiasm and interesting laugh, and that is definitely something I look forward to sharing with the SSA team this year: our passion for Sikhi and some good laughs.

This is my first year at UBC and my first year being a part of the SSA. Being on the SSA exec is very exciting. I’m looking forward to meeting some new people and making some good friends along with learning more about Sikhi.
Sharon Kaur

Being on the SSA exec has been such a great experience. First year as the discussion-coordinator-in-training allowed me to meet awesome people who have so much in common with me. Having a huge role in one of the Nihaal skits last year was probably an experience I’ll never forget. The rush of being on stage with your fellow SSA members was an incredible feeling. The SSA will always be a positive impact on my life and for that I am so grateful!
Navroop Singh
VP External
2nd year, Pre-Commerce
Gurdev Kaur
Secretary
4th year, Biology
As I am currently finishing my last year in my Bachelor of Science program, I find myself reminiscing about my undergraduate years. I have been a part of the SSA since my first year at UBC and I am extremely thankful for it. Over the last few years, I have learned a great deal about Sikhi and about myself. More importantly, I have been given a chance to form bonds with a group of individuals that have shown me nothing but kindness and support. Not only are the members of the SSA compassionate and considerate, but they are also a whole lot of fun to be around. This year, I hope to extend the compassion and support that has been shown to me to this year’s members of the SSA. Welcome and best of luck for the upcoming academic year!
Ravneet Kaur

Hi guys! I’m Ravneet and this is my 2nd year with the super-cool SSA. =D SSA has been such a great experience since day 1 – I’ve had tons of fun organizing and attending events (Nihaal ‘09, Longboat, kirtans, morning simrans…), meeting some pretty awesome people, and just hanging out after meetings! I’m looking forward to another exciting year!
Kiranpreet Kaur
Bookings Representative
3rd year, Biology
Last year was my first year with SSA and I didn’t really know what to expect. Like many others, I got into SSA because of an older sibling (my sister) pressuring me to join. Sure, she told me it was fun…but it’s hard to trust older siblings when they want you to do something. But as it turns out, joining SSA was a great experience. I happened to meet a lot of interesting people that I normally would never have had the chance to interact with. So let’s make this year even more exciting than the last!

My name is Navkiran Kaur and I am a proud member of the SSA! This is my second year at UBC and with the SSA. Last year was a blast since I got to take part in Nihaal! It was a lot of work, but well worth it because of the amazing friendships that were built from it ?.
Jagbir Kaur
Discussion Coordinator

For the past three years here at UBC I’ve been an executive member of the SSA and it has played a huge role in making my UBC experience extraordinary. From crazy longboat experiences to unforgettable Kirtan’s the SSA has given me lifelong friends and lifelong memories. Being a part of the SSA not only allowed me to explore my inner spiritual side but also assisted me in gaining experience temporarily. Being able to organize and put on shows like Nihaal are experiences that I will use and take with me for the rest of my life. So thank you SSA and let’s make this year one of the best!

The SSA provides an opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of Sikhi. As one of the sports and social coordinators, I will try to make the SSA experience more enjoyable for all members so that we can all have fun while we increase our knowledge about our religion. I look forward to playing on REC intramural teams and participating in many team events with everyone.

Lets take a trip back into time: Long ago, there was a young Sikh man who went to UBC, that was looking dig deep into his soul and find the spiritual side within him. Not only was he out to seek this but he was also looking to make new friends, expand his social life and activites, and create some of the most unforgettable memories of his life. His solution was: Joining the SSA where he accomplished all of the latter! That man was …MY UNCLE (in fact a former president of the SSA). And here I am today, years later, following his very footsteps, and guaranteed to achieve the same experiences that he has been cherishing for his entire life… And I assure you, these very same experiences too.

Hi! I’m Kirandeep, a 3rd year General Science student here at UBC. I’m also one of the fundraising coordinators this year. What can I tell you about me? I’m loud (I’m sure that there are many people who can vouch for that one) and have an extreme love for TV, chocolate, and murder mystery novels. I’m really glad to be a part of this awesome group this year, and am looking forward to a fun and successful year with the SSA.

Hey and welcome to the SSA. This is my second year on as a part of the SSA but my first as an exec. I joined the SSA because I thought it was a great chance to meet new people and also, to get in touch with my spiritual side. For all the newcomers to UBC, get involved in your university and take advantage of what is being offered and lets make this a great year.
The SSA has been a part of my life since I was a young child, from attending conferences to monthly Kirtans, I pretty much grew up as an SSA-kid, if there was such a thing
