Mission Statement

To embody the aspects of Sikhism that are sewa, spirit, and sangat by providing Sikh students with the opportunity to participate in community service, embrace the spirituality and essence of Sikhi, and be a part of a network of Sikh academics at the University of British Columbia.

History

The Sikh Students’ Association at UBC was the first SSA established in all of North America. Since its establishment in 1984, the SSA has grown from a small group of students to a large club with over 200 members and this year we commemorate 25 years of excellence as we celebrate the silver jubilee anniversary of its establishment as a valued organization in the community.

The club was created with the goal of providing Sikh students with the opportunity to interact, learn more about their religion, while educating the wider community about Sikhism and it works hard to successfully accomplish this goal every year.

The SSA organizes many events throughout the year for its members as well as Sikh youth off campus. We encourage you to get involved and support the club, because it is nothing without the people who take the time out to be a part of the SSA experience.
